The art of strategic gifting
It’s five days before a big event. You are still busy coordinating with the agency and haven’t had the time to even think about the gifts.
You have been going back and forth with a range of possible Diwali gifts and forgot to consider the logistical timelines for the deliveries. Now the cost of the courier seems to be the same as the cost of the gift itself!
It’s always a struggle to find gifts within the allocated budget, so you leave it for the last minute, knowing that you will eventually find something, just to get the job done. As a manager, do these situations seem all too familiar?
But what if there is a better way to gift which creates sustainable, happy relationships with clients and employees, who in turn help grow your business? This is strategic gifting or purposeful gifting. And like all good things, it takes deliberate and thoughtful planning.
It’s time we look at gifting in a new way. A way which doesn’t leave us somehow scrambling last minute for some trinkets from Amazon or a nearby giftshop as a cursory gift to our most precious clients and employees. A way which doesn’t make us wonder if gifting money actually yields any returns. A way which creates deep long-term relationships that give back multiple times over. It’s time we gift strategically, and we gift better!
